Qualified Medical Expenses (“QME”)

Defined by the IRS Code Section 213 and include expenses for the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease, obtained from medical providers and facilities, and must alleviate or prevent a physical or mental condition. QMEs also include premiums paid for medical and long-term care insurance, transportation expenses to obtain care and long-term care expenses not covered by an insurance policy.
